LEAP (Leadership, Effectiveness, Accountability and Professionalism) Africa, a leading non-profit organisation in Nigeria will announce emerging social innovators finalists at the Social Innovators Programme and Awards (SIPA) 2015 in Abuja on November 12, 2015 themed Rage for Change: Creating Impact.

The awards celebrates young social innovators, who have crafted solutions that improve the quality of life in rural communities and urban cities in Nigeria, in health, agriculture, environment, ICT and other sectors.

In collaboration with the International Youth Foundation, the Social Innovators Programme will provide capacity building and networking opportunities to 20 young social entrepreneurs out of the 455 who applied, through a one year fellowship.

Lagos Cocktail Week (LCW) is here again!

The festival, first introduced in 2014 by cocktail enthusiasts and Lara Rawa, CEO of Eventi Cocktails was created to showcase the best of Lagos Cocktail Culture, with close similarity to cocktail weeks that hold in major cities around the world. The weeklong event aims at providing individuals, businesses, corporations and global brands a platform to interact, connect and share brand value.

There will be exhibitions, masterclasses, tastings amongst other side attractions and activities.

This festival can also be described as a gathering of cocktail enthusiasts as beverage brands and lovers of great cocktails and mocktails alike get to indulge their taste buds at designated hubs.

The maiden edition last year tagged, “Eventi Cocktail Weekend” was held in April 2014 at the Soul Bar, Intercontinental Hotel Lagos. The event saw more than 100 guests in attendance, with a ‘taste-off’ competition between the spirits brand represented. The highlight of the event was the garnish show where South African chef showed guests and festival participants how to style a cocktail with garnish in shape of a bird amongst many other great cocktail tricks. In attendance were celebrities, Lagos State government public figures, event planners and notable personalities in the hospitality industry.

Speaking about this year’s festival, Lara Rawa, the CEO of Eventi Cocktail and creator of the festival said “This year, the event has been renamed ‘Lagos Cocktail Week’ and will be different in various ways; for instance are switching up some of the competitions and encouraging more of our guests to try their hands at making cocktails at some of the different “hubs”. We are also signing up partnering bars who will offer cocktails at a discount to LCW wristband wearers. Anyone interested in taking advantage of the promotions and offers happening during the week will need to purchase wristbands from the official hub, The Milano Bar at the Intercontinental Hotel.”
