TAN rally shuts down commercial activities in Lagos

LAGOS – The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, yesterday, shut down commercial activities in major markets across Lagos as a result of its mega rally convened for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan.

The event, which held at the National Stadium, attracted people from all parts of the state including representatives of professional groups, traders and artisans.

Speaking at the forum, National Vice Chairman of TAN, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah said the gathering was convened to tell Nigerians that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock till 2019.

He further said that his group would not spare anything to ‘’liberate the people of Lagos State.’’
Similarly, the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Mr Jimi Agbaje promised to run a fair and open administration, adding that everybody irrespective of tribe and religion would have a say in his government.

Agbaje also urged Lagosians not to cast their vote for the APC, adding that PDP is the only party that is interested in the welfare of Nigerians.

In his remark, General Coordinator of the groups at the rally, Chief Somtochukwu Anaeli, said TAN has provided direction for Nigerians at a very critical time.

Anaeli said the turnout was an indication that the state is supportive of President Jonathan’s re-election bid.

President of Igbo Youths Lagos, Comrade Emeka Agbo commended Ubah for mobilizing Igbo for Jonathan, adding that all Igbo are behind the PDP’s aspiration of wining the governorship polls in the state.

Also, Mr. Ben Chukwukelu, the leader of Anambra Community in Lagos said that all the 177 community associations in the state supportive of the President’s re-election bid.

The crowd later moved out of the National Stadium on a street to street sensitization march along the busy Ikorodu road and some major streets in the neighborhood.

TAN MEGA RALLY: LAGOS SAID ITS JONATHAN.- John Okafor C

Despite the hot temperature and a forecast of rain, the Lagos crowd, more than 100,000 people, predominantly women and youth began lining up in the Teslim Balogun Stadium, more than two hours before the rally. Some had taken the day off work just for President Jonathan.

It was an astonishing turnout, tens of thousands of people on every street of Lagos stood up for Jonathan in one of the biggest campaigns. Its very remarkable because it was in the heart of Lagos, a state that had until a few months ago been regarded as safely APC.

There was a festive atmosphere at the rally, partly because it was held in fairground and streets of Lagos but mainly because the crowd was in the mood to celebrate what they expect to be a Jonathan victory on the 28th March. There is a strong sense of anticipation. It feels like Christmas Eve, one emotional supporter said.

The Road show was awesome, beautiful colours of PDP matching with the green and white colour of TAN flying all over the streets of Lagos in the longest and best campaign convoy since the history of election campaign in Nigeria.

The roadshow was simply a celebration of Jonathan on the streets of Lagos which makes me to wonder where the 23% of Lagos voters who support APC actually stay because all along the streets we see and hear cheers and smiles of Jonathan and PDP supporters, chanting and dancing for President Jonathan.

It was indeed a celebration of a victory to come. You can call it a #Jonabration.

Lagos has said its Jonathan on the 28th. Let’s join Lagos and re-elect GEJ.

Addressing the gathering, leader and coordinator of the over one thousand groups that turned up for the TAN rally, Somtochukwu Anaeli paid a glowing tribute to the international NGO for giving a sense of direction to the nation at the crucial time in the nation’s history when the opposition political party was having a field day through deciets and propaganda. Anaeli noted that with the mammoth crowd that trooped out for the rally, and always honour calls by the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) it was sincerely obvious that Lagos state is solidly behind the election bid of Dr Jonathan.

President of Igbo Youths Lagos, Comrade Emeka Agbo described the TAN boss as the eye and voice of Ndigbo. He pointed out that all igbos home and abroad are behind DrPatrick Ifeanyi Ubah in his struggles to mobilize Nigerians massively for a resounding victory for Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the coming general elections.

The National vice chairman of TAN and a member of Presidential Campaign Organization of the PDP, Dr Ubah in his remarks said that the international NGO has made a statement with the Lagos mega rally that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock Presidential Villa till 2019.

He therefore urged Lagosians to join the political avalanche called TAN train and be part of progress even as he warned them against listening to those who have made up their minds not to see the revolution the transformation agenda has caused in the country.

He said that his group will not spare anything humanly possible to librate the people of Lagos state from the stranglehold of the opposition. The PDP governorship candidate for Lagos state, Mr Jimi Agbaje in his speech promised to run a fair and open administration which will give everybody irrespective of tribe and religion to actualize their potentials. He pointed out that the only way they can put an end to the oppressive government of the opposition is to troop out on March 28 and April 11 and vote for the PDP. Agbaje also urged the mammoth crowd not to be intimidated by the noisome opposition which has proved beyound every reasonable doubt that they are not really interested in the welfare of Lagosians or Nigerians.

The crowd latter moved out of the National Stadium on a street to street sensitization march along the ever-busy Ikorodu road round some major streets of the city while the entire Lagosians cheered them on. Captains of industries, eminent politicians and other interest groups like the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) took out time to identify with TAN and her Lagos Mega rally

TAN SHUTS DOWN LAGOS FOR JONATHAN, AGBAJE.- Chuks Collins

The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria(TAN) yesterday shut down the commercial city of Lagos for the PDP candidate in the 2015 presidential election, Dr Goodluck Jonathan in an unprecedented mega rally that shook the city to its very foundation while the National Stadium complex venue of the gathering bustled and bubbled for the entire day.

They were listed about 786 such registered groups that participated. Uniquely also on parade was the “Association of the over marginalized Lagosians”, who claimed to have become so tired of the tactics/antics of the city’s godfather and his numerous god sons and daughters said they now want identify with the transformation movement of President Jonathan and want to fully identify with TAN so that the transformation wind would sweep through Lagos and the entire geopolitical zone.

He pointed out that all igbos home and abroad are behind DrPatrick Ifeanyi Ubah in his struggles to mobilize Nigerians massively for a resounding victory for Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the coming general elections.

He said the need for the PDP to take over Lagos state imperative because of the draconian and discriminatory system of governance by the opposition party in the state.

Ben Chukwukelu, the leader of Anambra community in Lagos said that all the 177 communities of the state are solidly behind the president in the second tenure project. He said that the people of Anambra took the decision to swim with Jonathan because he has performed much more than all his predecessors in their first tenures.

The National vice chairman of TAN and a member of Presidential Campaign Organization of the PDP, Dr Ubah in his remarks said that the international NGO has made a statement with the Lagos mega rally that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock Presidential Villa till 2019.

The Thrills of TAN’s Lagos Rally

Last Wednesday, Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria organised a rally in Lagos to end its campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of Saturday’s election.
Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria last week organised a rally to ensure the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and election of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje in Lagos.
TAN is a non-political organisation designed to promote good governance through individuals of impeccable character fostering the continuation of transformation. It comprises patriotic Nigerian citizens, professional men and women, youths, businessmen and businesswomen, artists, artisans, sportsmen and women, physically challenged persons, widows associations, Christian, Muslim and native religious groups, community, traditional and market leaders, and among others.
The organisation, according to the national vice chairman, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, was formed after a critical analysis of Nigeria and the way forward for the country..

Meanwhile, the rally witnessed the distribution of trailers load of Goodluck Jonathan branded rice, five million “Vote right” education flyers, four million Goodluck Jonathan branded wrist bands, 2.5 million Goodluck Jonathan branded hand fans, 500,000 Goodluck Jonathan branded t-shirts, 500,000 Goodluck Jonathan branded face caps, 500,000 Goodluck Jonathan branded mufflers, 20,000 bales of Goodluck Jonathan branded wrappers, among others.

Speaking during the distribution, Ubah told supporters that TAN was the only volunteer group that knew how best to take care of its members, saying he wants a situation where when they go back to their various wards there will be visible evidence that they are in good hands. He urged the supporters not to relent until they had secured victory for their trusted and reliable candidates. According to him, “I have gone an extra mile to ensure that we meet our governor in the waiting, one on one.”
He pleaded with the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos, Dr. Jimmy Agbaje, to ensure that the suffering of the maltreated Okada men is alleviated once he assumes power, as they form a massive chunk of the Lagos populace.

On his part, Agbaje stated that with a group like TAN Nigerian leadership will only get better. He said, “I am preparing for a grand victory for President Goodluck Jonathan on March 28 after which I am certain that it will be victory all the way to April 11, when I will be proclaimed the governor of Lagos State.

“It behoves God to reward with success he that has worked well. Thus, TAN means well for Nigeria and have worked hard, and your efforts will be crowned with success, by the special grace of God.” He maintained that seeing the structure on ground, he had no doubt that PDP would have a landslide victory at the polls.

Agbaje urged supporters not to be afraid to come out and vote on election days, saying he is fully in support of the military coming out to protect voters and ensure violence free elections. He also stressed that they were not asking the military to rig the elections for them, but to protect well-meaning Nigerians from thugs.

Agbaje added that the military had never rigged election for any group or party in Nigeria, but had protected voters and their votes, explaining that that is what they will do this time around.
“The victory will not only be for President Goodluck Jonathan and Dr. Jimmy Agbaje, but for TAN also, because there is no way you can write on the election victory, without giving TAN its due credit.”
Politics, Agbaje said, is a game of interest and all those that participate have a right to benefit from it. He said TAN should not be dissolved after the elections because it formed the beginning of a movement for good governance in Nigeria.
The PDP candidate urged TAN to keep themselves organised so that they can have proper representation in government, not only in Lagos but also in the remaining 35 states plus Abuja,
Ubah stressed that TAN was a grassroots volunteer group, which can boast of the best grassroots structure in Nigeria. He said TAN’s membership cut across 861 verifiable support groups in Lagos State alone. He specially recognised the okada riders group, which he said has over 600,000 members, for their relentless support.

He maintained that TAN had visible presence in all the churches, mosques, markets, streets and wards in Lagos State. This, according to him, is so because TAN employs both one-on-one and online sensitisation.

Ubah said through the media TAN had showcased the good works of Jonathan, giving adequate reasons why he should be re-elected for a second term to consolidate on his efforts. He urged supporters not to be afraid, saying if in any way they sense any form of danger, they should call TAN office for protection. He enjoined supporters to go with the message of Jonathan and Agbaje to their places of abode and work, and convince their neighbours and colleagues on why these candidates are better than others vying for the same positions.

In his appreciation speech, Alhaji Kola Balogun, a chieftain of PDP, thanked TAN for a job well done. He urged supporters not to relent, stating that in due time their efforts will be crowned with success. And by then, they will proudly beat their chests and say, “I contributed to Goodluck Jonathan and Jimmy Agbaje’s victory at the polls,” Balogun said.

Indoctrinated With the Message of ‘Change’?

The world is used to the image of uneducated, disadvantaged and indoctrinated people engaged in terrorism. That imagery has been overthrown by recent occurrences. Increasingly, the class of people exhibiting extremist behavior has expanded to include well educated and influential people. There is the shameful episode of Mutallab, the Christmas Day pants bomber. Abdul Mutallab had a privileged upbringing but that did not protect him from becoming indoctrinated by extremists. And there is the more recent episode of the son of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria allegedly involved in terrorism.

Terrorism survives on ignorance and the extremist mindset of the participants which are often reinforced with propaganda. So, Nigerian youths and parents have to be wary of the gimmicks of the APC which is built on lies and propaganda. Many young APC supporters have been sold a Photoshop version of the presidential candidate of the party through a well-oiled media machine.

It was recently revealed that the APC had secured the service of an American consulting firm to wash and polish their Presidential candidate and help build a media wall around him, only allowing him open to the public through staged performances like the Chatham House event which he read from a written note, and which he had spent weeks practicing.
He has been hiding behind a media wall to avoid the challenge put out by President Jonathan calling him to participate in a public debate.

The APC are so confident about their propaganda machinery that they have publicly declared that their supporters have been completely taken in by it and have become so brainwashed that their reasoning has been numbed. Last week, the party tweeted from its official handles that even if valid video evidence is shown of their presidential candidate and party leader robbing a bank, their supporters will go ahead and vote for them. It is clear that the APC adapted the ways of religious extremism to politics as only indoctrinated supporters will go ahead to vote for a party regardless of credible evidence of criminal behavior.

It is easy to see that suicide bombers have exactly this mindset when they wear the bomb vests and go ahead to flick that button despite the presence of innocent human lives all around them.

It is important that young people and other segments of the electorates become aware of the APCs harmful propaganda and take steps to protect themselves from becoming indoctrinated.

NIGERIA LETS CHOOSE A FUTURE.- By John Okafor C

GEJ have signed trade agreements that are helping our companies sell more goods to millions of new customers, goods that are stamped with three proud words: “Made in Nigeria”. After 50 years of decline, GEJ created over half a million manufacturing jobs in the last four and a half years and he is now helping big factories and small businesses double their exports to create a million new manufacturing jobs in the next four years

Now we have a choice, between a strategy that reverses this progress, or one that builds on it. GEJ have opened millions of new opportunities in Agriculture in the last four years, and he will open more.

GEJ is offering a better path, a future where we keep investing in Agriculture and other mineral resources; where youth can own small-holder farms, grow and hire farmworkers, where construction workers build homes and factories that waste less energy; where we develop a hundred year supply of natural gas that’s right beneath our feet. If we choose this path, we can cut our oil imports in half by 2020 and support more than 600,000 new jobs in natural gas alone.

GEJ chose a future where more Nigerians have the chance to gain the skills they need to compete, no matter how much money they have. Education was the gateway to opportunity for GEJ. It can be the gateway for GMB. And now more than ever, it is the gateway to almajiris.

GEJ built Almajiri School because he believes no child should have their dreams deferred because parents cannot afford it. He built 12 Federal universities so that no family should have to set aside a college acceptance letter because they don’t have the money. He established SURE-P vocational training so that no company should have to look for workers in China because they couldn’t find any with the right skills here at home.

In a country like Nigeria with new threats and new challenges, we must choose leadership that has been tested and proven. Four years ago, GEJ promised to end the corruption in Fertilizer distribution. He did. He promised to revive the railway system. He has. He promised to improve women development and participation in governance. He has. He promised to organize a National Conference. He did. He promised to improve youth development. He has. He has blunted the Bokoharam’s momentum in North-East, and by the end of 2015, our longest war will be over.

We can meet that goal together. We can choose that future for Nigeria. We can choose GEJ
